Another great messaging program for Linux is Kopete.  It supports MSN,
AIM, ICQ, etc.  It has all the admirable traits of Gaim including
ability to re-name contacts, but also has support for MSN file transfer.

Personally, I found that AMSN has some severe memory leaks, and it
doesn't allow renaming of contacts, which is important when the average
nickname on my list is about 20 characters long!

Anyway, if you're not one of those people who just hate KDE, try out Kopete.
