There's lots of software for creating image galleries.  I think it's highly 
preferable to use a website rather than email, some people still have dialup.

I use igal, it's a simple command line program (as simple as "igal ." if you 
like).  Software's at http://www.stanford.edu/~epop/igal (if you use Debian 
then just apt-get install it).
