A few problems with that.  First, depending on your shell, the * might get 
gobbled up before being passed to rpm so you should escape it.  Second, AFAIK 
rpm doesn't accept wildcard package queries ;-)

The way I would do the query is ... rpm -qa | grep -i ssh

I'd be willing to bet on it but since you're rpm query wasn't quite right it 
could still be there.
