Have you ever seen "micro code"? Years ago, many computers used
microcode to run the CPU. The listings often ran well over 100
characters wide, just for the instructions! In some computers, such as
the Data General Eclipse and DEC VAX 11/780, it was possible to write
extenstions to the instruction set, using micro code.
