Open Office -> PDF and apostrophes

It might be a font substitution thing; try it with a different font.

Versions of GhostScript between about 6-7.04 had problems with apostrophes in particular. Try upgrading.

Unless the KDE printer tool implements its own PDF library, I suspect it uses GhostScript too, and will likely have the same issues.
