I've got a similar issue in Mandrake 9.2 and a SB Live card that only 
partially works -- for whatever reason I only get sound with Frozen 
Bubble. In my research I came across this link that addresses a problem 
with sound and certain Via southbridge chipsets and thought that it 
might be some help to you.
