Netscape lock & purge

I solved one problem - for some reason 'cp /mnt/floppy/bookmarks.html
/home/chris/.netscape/bookmarks.html' did not work. So, I deleted the
existing one first, *then* copied the one from the floppy and now the
bookmarks are OK.

The other two problems I'm having with Netscape (lock file error and
locally-deleted mail not deleting off server) persist. For the lock file
error problem, I tried renaming all the files in home/chris/.netscape
one-by-one and opening Netscape between each renmae to see the effect. By the
end of this I had...

. custom.dic.saved
plugin-list.saved
.. history.dat.saved
popstate.saved
archive.saved history.list.saved preferences.js.saved
bookmarks.html.saved key3.db.saved registry.saved
cache.saved liprefs.js.saved secmodule.db.saved
cert7.db.saved nswrapper.copy_defs.saved summary2.da.saved
cookies.saved pab.na2.saved xover-cache.saved

I still got the lock file error.

Then I changed them all back to the original names (one-by-one again) and
fired up Netscape between each rename to see the effect (this time I got one
less error each time until Netscape was functional again).

For the problem of locally-deleted messages not deleting off the server,
I quadruple-checked that the pop3 server is set to 'Leave messages on server'
and 'When deleting messages locally, remove them from the server' [this
combination in the past has always removed messages from the server ony when
I delete them locally (and, yes, I make sure that I empty trash as well).]

So, two problems persist: lock file error, and locally-deleted mail not
being removed from the server.
