The Use of Unmodified Linux in a Network Switch. - Louie Di Diodato

Description

This session will describe and demonstrate the benefits of a user accessible Linux O/S on network switches aimed at the Data Centre environment. In particular the session will focus on the EOS (Extensible Operating System) software and hardware from Arista Networks. Arista equipment supports full user access to the underlying Linux kernel in the chassis. This means that users can use their favourite Linux tools to analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot networks. They can also modify the chassis behaviour in customized ways using Python scripts. This level of customizability allows the Arista gear to be implemented in unique ways that reduce the cost of operations and add value to our customers networks.
