On my way to soup last week, a HackLabber observed that a system called Jack Audio (see http://jackaudio.org/) was somehow worth looking at.

It seems like a bit of interesting infrastructure if one has a keen need to manage a bunch of audio sources that are to share sound on a single Linux box. Not being in much need of such (I tend to use "appliances" to play music for me), I'm not sure Jack is truly of any interest to me. Am I missing some crucial application of it that I should be aware of? Has anyone else found it so useful as to care lots?
