Ok, so will have some additional comments to these letters.<br>

First, regarding why I need oracle. Sure, I like postgres, I love it,<br>
not like only. But sometime we are forced to use software that<br>
otherwise we would prefer not to use. Simply, I am in a contact with<br>
people from a Very Huge Company who do quite significant development<br>
of Oracle itself. The company is from GIS industry, which is<br>
attractive to me (there is shortage of of specialists in GIS<br>
worldwide, and I do have basic experience in that field, equired in my<br>
latest workplace). So, I simply want to try that opportunity as<br>
possible direction in my future carrier.<br>

Oracle has Oracle Spatial addition, which is largely regarded as a<br>
kind of standard in GIS industry. I know, postgreSQL also has GIS<br>
extension, which is very powerful. But thats not me who decides what<br>
to use.<br>

Oracle has also Map Viewer. Oh, well, I did hear that it does not work<br>
very well, but I am very curious how it is designed, because I<br>
programmed one myself working on Firefox, and there is possibly a lot<br>
of interesting technology around that is related to the subject.<br>

Besides all that, I am simply curios, I want to see how similar or<br>
different are both database servers.<br>

However, it is silly documentation. It uses language more like for<br>
Microsoft products. Reading that just irritates me. May be I could<br>
swallow it, but the point is that the documentation does not discuss<br>
all possible problems that may happen around.<br>

I am on Centos , 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5 , so it seems that a RedHat<br>
version of their installation should work right away.<br>
<br>
After installation I do have listener working (again, I had for that<br>
to create my own /etc/init.d script, which seems somewhat silly; why<br>
wouldnt they prepare one?)<br>
<br>
But I have no access to administrative web interface. And why? I have<br>
no idea. It simply does not start. Log files are short and contain for<br>
instance the following crap (what an insane path to log file!):<br>
