<br><br>In WindowMaker, there's no menu unless you ask for it; I can switch between virtual desktops with a keystroke or a mouse click (but the keystroke is about 100 times more likely) and it's very fast.<br><br>
But I concede that this is a personal choice .. I like a clean interface that's a simple as possible. That's probably why I love Google's main page and dislike the craziness of most media web sites -- too many different sized boxes, all that flashing, moving, and changing colours going on in the ads and competing for my attention.
